Antiques Roadshow expert stuns guest with ‘rude’ remark about treasured pocket watch
ANTIQUES Roadshow expert, left a guest shocked with a “rude” scuttlebutt well-nigh a precious pocket watch.
The visitor brought a prized pocket watch to be evaluated, which she personal she received from her mother’s elderly aunt in Scotland.
Expert, Richard Price took a tropical squint at the specimen and said: “It is very pretty, I midpoint squint at that for a case, isn’t it lovely?”
As he opened the watch, he said it was in “mint” condition and he discovered it was made from the American Walton Watch Company, in the 1890s.
The specimen was made of unalloyed gold, but it was not American, Richard told the shocked guest.
He continued: “It’s far too nice to be American if I can be so rude as to say,” Richard joked. “This is going to be a Swiss specimen and I am not sure why they put an American movement in a Swiss case, but it’s been done.”
The watch had never been worn before, equal to the guest, and was subconscious at the when of a cabinet.

Richard asked the guest how much she thought her item would be worth, and she said £100.
“I think most people would zest your hand off for £100!” Richard joked.
He told her the pocket watch could get an impressive £2,500 at vendition if she was to sell it.
The guest was stunned, but revealed she wanted to pass it lanugo to her daughter to alimony it in the family.
